Like members of other indigenous populations throughout the Americas, many of the Maya are living disadvantaged lives.  After the world doesn’t end tomorrow (this apocalypse an invention of some New Agers, fringe Christian sects, pop culture crazies–but not the Maya), the descendants of the builders of the great cities of Tulum, Chichén Itzá, Tikal, Mayapan, will still need to be lifted out of poverty, provided with education and opportunity.

And here, we will need to once again ban the sale, transfer and importation of assault weapons and big clips, drums or strips that hold more than 10 bullets.  And deal with whatever  you’re inclined to call our approaching fiscal “doomsday.”
