Occupy Wall Street March, NYC, 10/5/11

15,000 assembled today in lower Manhattan’s Foley Square and demanding economic justice, made their way around endless metal barricades to march to Zuccotti Park and the Occupy Wall Street protesters (who have been camping out since September 17).

It’s a start–and attention is starting to be paid .

From Senator Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) “The Bernie Buzz:” “Even Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke acknowledged there was ‘excessive risk taking’ by Wall Street when Senator Sanders questioned him Tuesday about the root causes of the recession and the concerns voiced by protesters on Wall Street.  ‘They blame, with some justification, the financial sector with getting us into this mess,’ Bernanke said during testimony before the Joint Economic Committee.  ‘I can’t blame them.’ ”
